Working in the Renewabel Energy Sector
Have you ever felt like you were at a standstill in what you were doing? Whether it be in life, school, or your career? That's how I felt near the end of 2017. Everything was great. I had a house, dog, fiancé, and good job, but something was missing. That was until Naveco Power came knocking at my door.
To be honest, I didn't know much about the renewable energy sector when I first heard of the company. Sure, I recycled and would often pass wind turbines on trips to PEI or Nova Scotia, but that was about it.
What intrigued me about Naveco was that they were a new company with so much potential. I started to research more about renewable energy and impact investing and asked the questions to those who currently worked there to find out exactly what I was about to dive into.
One of Naveco's primary goals as a local company is to make New Brunswick better both environmentally and economically, and for someone who's born and raised in this province, it was hard to turn down an opportunity to be a part of that. I wanted to be a part of creating that difference and help to build this company from the ground up. So that's when I chose to leave my job in the non-profit world and pursue a whole new career path in renewable energy project development.
So far every day has been different, new challenges and opportunities come up regularly, and it's exciting. Now I'm able to work with the Marketing and Communications team to build the brand and to inform and educate New Brunswickers about this investment opportunity that exists in their own backyard.
Now as I'm passing those wind farms I think of the work put into them, how they're helping to reduce energy costs, and the jobs they created, and I am proud to say I am part of a movement toward a greener energy future in my province.
